On March 24, West Liberty took place at the Bill Van Horne Invitational at Wheeling Jesuit.
On the men’s side, Junior Justin Frazier won the 100-meter preliminaries with a fast time of 10.75 seconds. Teammate Brendan Kacor finished eighth in the 200-meter sprint with a time of 23 seconds.
Thrower Aaron Schneid placed sixth in the hammer throw with a hurl of 37.94 meters and eighth in the shot put
On the women’s side Kylie Emfinger placed second in the hammer throwing the ball 41.52 meters, and sophomore Amanda Mortis tied for eighth place in the high jump with a height of 1.45 meters.
On March 31, West Liberty traveled to the Washington & Jefferson Invitational.
Frazier won the 100 and 200-meter dashes with a time of 10.61 in the 100-meter dash and 22 seconds in the 200-meter dash with a meet record time of 21.75.
Kacor placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.88 seconds.
On the women’s side West Liberty earned four of the top seven places in the 10,000-meter run with all four runners qualifying for the WVIAC championship meet.
Alyssa Meadows placed third to lead the WLU women with Megan Blevins finishing in fourth, Tessa Gretchen finished sixth and Catherine Parker placed seventh.
Kylie Emfinger finished with a third-place finish in the hammer throw while Chelsea East was eighth in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
The track team traveled to Slippery Rock University on April 5, but the results were not available at the time the Trumpet went to press.
The Hilltoppers will return to Slippery Rock University this Saturday for another invitational.
